US Air Force Academy (USAFA) Summer Boot Camp for STEM (science, technology, engineering & mathematics) Educators
OPPORTUNITY: USAFA teams with other Federal agencies and national organizations to bring to teachers top-quality STEM training programs from around the country. Presenters include US Navy, Federal Aviation Administration, National Aeronautics & Space Administration, and American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics.

2012 Schedule
The 2012 STEM Boot Camp at the US Air Force Academy was a huge success with one hundred educators participating! Read more in the recent Colorado Springs Gazette article.
WHAT: Session 1 for High School Educators only will be presented by Teaching Science and Technology Incorporated (TSTI). Educators will use a Satellite Tool Kit (STK) to visualize orbits and interplanetary space travel; locate various geo-cache sites using GPS units; build and test a model rocket while learning about rocket launch and re-entry. Session 2 for Middle and High School Educators will include hands-on training in such programs as Sea Perch, Lego Robotics, the Academy of Model Aerospace, NASA Smart Skies Air Traffic Control Mathematics, Cyber Patriots, and Real World Design. See Middle and High School daily schedule.
Session 2 for Elementary Educators presented by National Institute of Aerospace (NIA) includes creating high-speed impact craters to learn about force and motion and compare the geography of the Earth and Moon. Additional presentations by the Academy Model of Aerospace and Museum of Flight includes building and flying model aircraft. See Elementary daily schedule.
